Mix of the Hour

UPDATE (12/10/05 2:26PM): The direct link I gave you to to the below mix is a dud, so you'll just have to go by way of the AOL Music page. Look under the Editor's Picks section for the LCD Soundsystem mix, but for the DFA Holdiday Mix, check under the Featured Artist section. Happy listening campers!

For those of you who don't know me that well (and judging by a show of hands that would be... yep, all of you.) I loves me some DFA-style dance mixes. I found this one by way of Beats in Space, who pointed towards a handy AOL Music page which led me to "AOL Mix 09/16/2005' - Part 1" by none other than LCD Soundsystem.

This mix boasts a 1:05:42 running time and starts out relatively slow with a single repeating loop until around :50 where it breaks into full disco beat. At 1:25 the lyrics kick in. The mix ends in a glorious hail of feedback and various Halloween-esque sound effects. The transitions are seamless and it's a great soundtrack to waking up at 11:00 and calling it early.

First Conception

A Messy Birth

Well not quite messy, shall we call it "unexpected pregnancy?" Yes.

Alright, quick summary of what I intend this humble mp3 blog to be. I'll be posting (in)frequent bursts of thoughts as well as mp3s and quite possibly news, reviews, etc al infinitum to the end. Indie rock will be the main focus, as well as humor, but I don't confine myself to just four walls, I hire a contractor to put in an additional two as well as a patio while he's at it. Enjoy.
